Below are 3 simple steps you can follow to build your very own free careers page!
Step 1 — Launch Your Free Careers Page
Step 2 — Design Your Free Careers Page
Step 3 — Add Jobs To Your Free Careers Page
Throughout the remainder of this blog, I’m going to show you how you can get your hands on a ‘Free Forever’ recruitment platform that will allow you to launch a free careers page, design it so it fits your brand and then advertise your open roles so that candidates can apply!
Before we dive into the nuts and bolts around building the careers page let’s quickly summarise what a careers page is, so that we can all make sure we’re on the same page. (see what I did there)….
However, if you’re super duper confident that this careers page is exactly what you’re looking for you can skip ahead to the nuts and bolts of building the page.
What is a careers page?
Put simply… A careers page is the hub for the open jobs you’re working on as an internal or external recruiter.
One of the first things you’ll look to do when you start working on a new vacancy is create a job advert so that candidates, who might be interested in the position, have a place to apply.
This magical place where you advertise your open roles is also known as……. You guessed it…
YOUR CAREERS PAGE.
So there you have it…
The place where you advertise all the open vacancies you’re working on is also referred to your careers page… Who would have guessed it?
So now that you have been enlightened and have a solid understanding of what a careers page is… The next logical question to answer is surely…
Why Do You Need A Careers Page?
If you’re a recruiter who’s in the early stages of building a business, your careers page can be a useful tool for a couple of reasons.
It can help you to leverage your time
It can act as a marketing tool, helping you to build your brand.
If we talk about leveraging time…
As a recruiter, especially someone who’s working as a Freelance or Solo recruiter, your time is super valuable. You naturally want to spend as much time as you can working on money-making activities and avoid wasting time doing the same things over and over.
By creating a job ad and sticking it on a careers page it leverages your time by saving you from constantly writing out emails to candidates to share the details of the role.
Each time you find a new candidate interested in looking into the position, you can quickly fling them over a link to the job description without wasting time writing it over and over.
The second and most important use of a careers page is as a marketing tool. When you’re new to the game and in the early stages of building your recruitment business you’re going to be building your brand from scratch.
By having a careers page that’s full to the brim with exciting jobs, you’re giving yourself a better chance of building credibility.
Following on from a call, if a candidate can look you up online and see you have a wide selection of jobs available it’s going to increase your chances of building trust with them and do wonders for helping you to build your brand.
Now that we’ve done the groundwork in understanding the ‘What’ and the ‘Why’ let’s get stuck into the juicy stuff.
STEP 1 — Launch Your Careers Page
The free careers page comes included as part of Giig’s Free Forever recruitment platform
Giig Hire is an all-in-one tool aimed at supporting Freelance & Solo Recruiters by giving you access to a ‘Free Forever’ tool that you can use to start building your recruitment business and the best part is, that the careers page is included in the free forever package!
The Giig Hire system is truly free, there is no trial period and no credit card required to sign up… All you have to do to get started is provide an email address and you’re good to go.
The Giig Hire platform gives you access to the following tools in the same system and I have linked to each of them for you:
Once you’ve opened a free account with Giig your careers page is automatically launched for you, so you’re instantly ready to rock and roll.
To view your page you simply navigate to the careers page option in the menu bar and click — ‘View Careers Page’
The video guide below shows you how you can open a free account and unlock your careers page.
STEP 2 — Design Your Careers Page
After signing up to Giig and launching your free recruitment careers page, the next thing you should spend some time on is editing the design of the page.
The Giig platform allows you to adjust your page by editing the banner image, text, colours and logo to fit your company brand. You can access all of these controls in the ‘Careers Page Settings’ option.
Alongside designing your careers page, it’s also important to make sure that you link it up to your external website.
If you have your own company website, you can connect it to Giig’s careers page by adding a button in your website that directs to your careers page.
Then if you adjust the URL in the ‘Header Button Box’ to direct to your company website the careers page will link back, allowing candidates to flick between the two.
I’ve attached a photo above of the header box you need to paste a link into, in order to direct people to your website.
However, if you’re like me and could use further guidance, this video will run you through a step-by-step guide to customising the page and linking up your careers page to your website.
STEP 3 — Add Jobs To Your Free Careers Page
After launching your page and getting the design set, you’re now ready to start posting your jobs!
Which is ultimately what we’re all here for!
With the Free Forever version of Giig, the recruitment careers page, allows you to advertise up to 3 jobs at a time and rotate those jobs as much as you need to.
So you can cycle them around daily.
If you’re someone that is going to need slightly more firepower you can upgrade to either the Giig Starter or Giig Plus+ options of Giig.
Giig Starter allows you to advertise up to 10 jobs at a time on your page, whilst Giig Plus+ allows you to add an unlimited number of jobs on your page at any one time.
Both these packages are fairly affordable coming in at $12.75 for Giig Starter and $52 for Giig Plus+ per month.
If you’re going to stick with the free version that’s also totally fine!
To initially add a job to your careers page you first have to head to the universal create button that can be found at the top of the screen and select the ‘Job’ option.
After that, you will be guided through a job form where you can add the job to the platform. The one thing to note is that you need to select ‘Yes’ when you see the option ‘Would you like to display on your careers page’.
After sending the job live, it should then appear on your careers page and you will be able to start sharing it with potential candidates.
To take a job off your careers page you can come back to the job and in settings turn the ‘Display on Careers Page’ option off.
The final thing I’ll talk about today is the ability to start sharing jobs with candidates in your network.
A big part is advertising the roles but it goes without saying that if you don’t share the roles with your network, no candidates will apply.
There’s no point having the jobs out there in the wild, if no candidates can find the jobs.
At the top of each job advert, you have a selection of quick links that you can use to quickly share the roles online.
These options give you the ability to:
Copy the link to the clipboard
Share the job ad on Facebook
Share the job ad on X
Share the job ad on Linkedin
Share the job ad via email
This is a great way to start sharing your job ads with potential candidates.
The Giig Plus package also gives you the ability to bulk send a link to candidates, so that you can quickly distribute it to multiple candidates at once.
Again, if you’d like to see this in action before signing up, here’s another video to quickly take a look at!
So after adding your jobs to your careers page and then distributing the links online, the final piece of the puzzle is to review the candidate applications as they come in and yet again Giig has you covered for that!
When candidates do start applying to your roles, you will be notified via email and the candidates will fall into the ‘New Applicants’ section inside the ATS part of the platform.
Summary
So, I think that rounds it off quite nicely!
