This is update number 1 for Giig Hire's Free Recruitment CRM. This is the first in a new series of blogs that talks about the product updates and what's coming soon.

I’ve decided that this year, I’m going to start blogging about the journey/improvements we’re making to the Giig Hire platform. 

Just over 2 years ago we decided to start building a Free Forever Recruitment ATS/CRM for Solo & Freelance Recruiters.

Recruitment software is expensive and when you’re starting you ideally want to keep your costs to a minimum and avoid spending money on crazy recruitment software. 

You’re caught between a rock and a hard place really, as you know that ideally, you need a place to store your data but at the same time, you don’t want to spend more than you have to in the early days. 

Which is exactly why we’re giving away something for free. 

Over the last 2 years, we’ve gone hell for leather building up this platform as quickly as we can. 

We’ve always done product updates on the improvements that we’re making but I had this little lightbulb moment this week where I thought. 

“Shit we should be blogging this and tracking our journey” 

So here goes!

Free Recruitment CRM — Product Update 1 — GDPR Improvements!.

So, we’re kicking off the year with some GDPR improvements. 

At the back end of 2024 our trusted Tech Genius, also known as Samwise, brought another small human into the world and now juggles a family of 4 alongside a farmyard of pets.. Including Chickens. 

As he was taking some time to settle into the new speed of things it meant that our first product update landed at the start of Feb. 

The main focus of this initial push has been based around GDPR as GDPR in recruitment is becoming a hot topic and we want to make sure that we do our best to help you as a small business become GDPR compliant. 

We’re by no means experts in the space but we’re trying to bring features into Giig Hire to help you improve your processes when it comes to collecting and managing data and have implemented the following 4 features to help tighten up your processes.

1. Adding an Unsubscribe Link To Your Emails

2. Manually Unsubscribing Candidates

3. Adding Opt-In Links To Your Job Adverts

4. Generating a GDPR Welcome Email Template

More Features! 👑

This update was more than just GDPR improvements, here are a couple of key updates you can now get your hands on.

  1. Uploading Candidate CSV files 
    – You can now drag Excel sheets of candidate data into Giig and add skills/tags on Mass.
  2. Exporting your data!
    – Our motto is “Your Data Is Your Data” and you can now extract your data into CSV files.
  3. Filtering By Owner
    – For the small agencies out there, you can now filter and search by ‘Owner’ this allows you to quickly identify the data that you’ve added to the platform.

Bugs Squished 💢

Thanks to you (the beautiful users of Giig) and your feedback, we’ve managed to squash a couple of bugs that were floating around causing issues.

  1. Slow Quick Search
    – The quick search function was taking a while to load so we’ve re-engineered it to hopefully speed that up.
  2. Duplicate Applications
    – It was brought to our attention that some of you were receiving duplicate applications via the careers page. So we have tried to nip that in the bud.
  3. Rouge Email attachments
    – When creating an email template a rouge attachment kept popping up so we’ve put a stop to that.
  4. Candidate Pipeline Crashing
    – The candidate pipeline was crashing when a candidate had a skill of ‘undefined’ so hopefully we have also boxed that one off too.

What’s Coming? 👀

As you all know, we’re very aware that we need to keep improving and here’s a sneak peek of what’s coming up in the near future.

  1. Customization
    – You’ve been asking for the ability to change the data you collect, the forms and the pipelines, so we’re planning on bringing that one to you.
  2. Tasks & Reminders
    – When you’re moving at the speed of light, it’s easy to forget who you spoke with last week, so we plan to bring in tasks and reminders to make sure you never miss another follow-up.
  3. Auto-Formatting CVs
    – This is one a lot of you are asking for and it makes complete sense. You want to spend as much time as possible recruiting and if we can automate the process of you formatting CVs that gives you one less thing to worry about.
  4. Bookings
    – We’ve been working on our Temp pipelines and the final piece of the puzzle is to allow you to manage short day-to-day contracts, so will be creating a management tool for those shorter-term day-rate contracts.

So that brings us up to speed for 2025 so far, 

The plan is to make it a big year and get the platform up to par with a lot of the competitors in the space. As quickly as we can. 

So much to do, so little time,
